We recently completed a new WordPress website for Mercer County Public Library, along with a new logo that reflects the library’s deep connection to the community it serves.
The previous website made it challenging to clearly showcase library services, events, and resources in a way that was intuitive for patrons. As library offerings expanded, the site’s structure limited how effectively staff could highlight programs, updates, and important information.
The new website was designed with usability at the forefront. It is fully responsive, providing a consistent and user-friendly experience across mobile devices, tablets, and desktop computers. Improved navigation and flexible page layouts make it easier for patrons to explore events, access resources, and stay connected with what’s happening at the library. Built on WordPress, the site is easy for library staff to manage and update as needs evolve.
In addition to the website, we designed a new logo inspired by the library’s signature artwork, Of Time and Tilth. The artwork is a large sculptural screen that greets patrons as they enter the building, constructed from antique farm tools donated by Mercer County families. The piece reflects Mercer County’s rich agricultural heritage and the shared history of the community. That same sense of place and tradition guided the visual identity, creating a logo that feels rooted, meaningful, and uniquely local.
Accessibility was a key consideration throughout the project, both in the website’s structure and its visual presentation. As with all of our work, the project was completed with a focus on affordability, sustainability, and long-term ease of use for staff and patrons alike.
