Anything Else?

Suicide is a difficult subject. It is one that leads to hushed tones, loss of words, averted eyes and other forms of avoidance; a subject that people never want to have to consider. It is a subject that is a traumatic mix of grief, pain, confusion, anger, guilt, devastation and loss.

We struggle to understand this terrible tragedy and most of the time, we turn away, unable to fathom any meaning or understanding of this event. We are left lost and confused, alone in our deep, abiding pain.

The Owensboro Regional Suicide Prevention Coalition is a local non-profit group comprised of your neighbors. We are a diverse group of educators, health care providers, law enforcement, business persons, and other citizens. Our group also includes those who have lost someone to suicide. We share the following mission:

The mission of the Owensboro Regional Suicide Prevention Coalition, Inc. is to provide an organized effort to reduce the negative impact of suicidal behavior in the Owensboro region.

To that end we work to educate the public and reduce the stigma of talking about suicide openly so that we can actively pursue ways to not only prevent suicide, but also to provide for the needs of those that have suffered the loss of a loved one to suicide.
