Hopkinsville launches a new Web site to promote tourism

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention & Visitors Bureau has a new Web site, designed and developed by Red Pixel Studios.
The site, at visithopkinsville.com, highlights all the great things to do in Hopkinsville – a city with a wealth of adventure, history and mystery. With listings centered on where to play, eat and stay, plus an easy-to-use calendar filled with events and festivals, the site delivers a comprehensive guide to Hopkinsville and Christian County.
In addition, users can take the guide on the go because visithopkinsville.com was developed with a responsive design that transforms the layout and content for an optimal view on desktops, laptops, tablets and phones.
“So many more users are browsing the Web on phones and tablets, especially travelers,” said Cheryl Cook, executive director, Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “So we really needed our new site to cater to these devices, to look good and provide a satisfying experience.”
The Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention & Visitors Bureau needed the ability to manage nearly all aspects of the site. Red Pixel Studios developed the site using WordPress as the content management system, providing a powerful and free open-source solution that will continue to meet their needs for years to come.
“With our old site, we were not able to easily update the site as we would have liked,” said Cook. “Now, we can modify our listings, update our event calendar, post news articles, or change the promos on the front page. It is a vast improvement and a tremendous benefit for us.”
“Promoting tourism throughout our state, specific to Christian County and the City of Hopkinsville, enhances our community presence and provides important revenues and exposure to our local area,” added Cook. “Our new Web site is an additional step in continuing our efforts to develop and grow the awareness of the activities and events located right in our own back yard.”
