A new logo for Jasper-Dubois County Public Library

New logo for Jasper-Dubois County Public Library

We developed a new logo for the Jasper-Dubois County Public Library, located in Indiana, as first step in a project to overhaul the library’s communications.

The library team was looking for more of a modification of their existing logo, and wanted it to say more about who they are.

Through discussions, we suggested something more minimal compared to the intricate symbol the library system had been using, which featured illustrations of a tablet, a book, and a tree. We offered that minimal and representative can certainly coexist.

We aimed to allow the logo to evolve, making those already familiar elements more allusive and the overall design far less complex.

We were able to evolve the logo by incorporating elements from the previous logo. The new logo features a grouping of leaves from the tree above a profile view of the open book.

Each leaf represents one of the four library locations in Dubois County. The book represents both the physical and electronic books available from the library, to further simplify the logo.

We included colors from the previous logo and expanded the colorway of the library’s brand by adding complementary colors.

The library is using the logo in its communication materials and it has been well received in the community. We look forward to launching a new website for the library in the very near future.
